Mentoring, Leadership and Life Skills

iDareU Academy Inc. - Troop # 0518

Venturing is an inclusive program through the Boy Scouts of America for males and females aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade). It’s operated through Venturing Crews, units of youth and advisors that meet on set schedules and plan activities and events for youth like you!

The Venturing program aims to enable young adults to:

  • Experience a program that is fun and full of challenge and adventure.
  • Acquire skills in the area of their crew’s specialty.
  • Become a skilled training and program resource for other youth groups.
  • Experience positive leadership from adult and youth leaders and be given opportunities to take on leadership roles.

  • Learn to make ethical choices throughout their lives by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

  • Have a chance to learn and grow in a supportive, caring, and fun environment.

Academic Counseling and Core Curriculum (ACCC)

The ACCC program focuses on the academic side of being a student athlete. The NCAA and each University and College have certain qualifications that the student athlete has to obtain in order to receive a full scholarship. Our staff has created programs that we feel give our athletes the information needed to obtain these requirements.

  • Scorecard – We use a “ScoreCard” which is a scoring system of the classes they need to take and the scoring grade they need to qualify for a scholarship. We look at the student athletes scorecard twice a year with the parents and will correspond with the student athlete school counselor.
  • ACT/SAT Prep Classes – We have our own ACT/SAT Prep Classes, where we bring in certified ACT/SAT Prep Class instructors eight weeks before the scheduled test date to help prepare the student athletes for the ACT/SAT. This class is opened to the public. We’ve negotiated a great price of $199.00 for the eight-week class. A book is included in this price.

Community Service Initiative

To whom much is given, much is expected. As athletes, we are blessed with certain gifts and abilities such that we are sometimes considered “Role Models” in our communities. There are so many services needed in the communities where our student athletes come from that we open our doors for the opportunities.

We have participated in four community service projects yearly since 2010. These are some of the community service initiatives that we typically participate with.

  • Back to School
  • Clean the Streets
  • Toy Drives
  • Food & Coat Drives

5th Quarter Initiative

Most athletes have dreams of being a professional athlete. The reality is less than 2% of all college athletes make it to the pros, with the exception of baseball (~ 12%) according to the NCAA. These numbers are staggering when you think about the requirements that a young person has to fulfill to acquire and maintain an athletic scholarship from an educational institution and the amount of money that is paid to universities ($2B) for sports participation.

Whether our iDareU participants make it to the majors or not, iDareU will still prepare them for the future; therefore, we will continue to monitor and support our young adults through training and mentoring.

We will incorporate additional services such as media training, internships and interviewing, through partnerships, for a smooth transition from college into their professional careers.

Juvenile Delinquency Prevention

Preventing delinquency not only prevents young lives from being wasted, but also prevents the onset of adult criminal careers and thus reduces the burden of crime on its victims and on society.

We believe iDareU Academy Inc., give the kids a solid program with consistent guidance and support that the kids lack in their everyday lives. We also use our athletic programs as an alternative vehicle for them to channel their focus on athletics that can provide them with certain skill sets that positively impact their lives.

“We take kids that are on a Path of Destruction, to a Path of Promise.”

Financial Literacy

This program will provide behavior-changing financial education to get young people versed in concepts such as needs vs. wants, budgeting, living within your means, saving, investing, planning for big purchases or life events, credit, debt, checkbook management and an understanding of various types of business entities.

Another Approach

Another Approach is designed to bring awareness about Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Sexual Assaults, and Bullying. Our Program will focus on “No means No,” the proper way to treat a woman or young lady.

We have a yearly seminar with professionals who specialize in these services.

Parent Series

We will provide four (4) informational sessions per year for parents to become versed in the college process:

1st – The ins and outs of the College Recruiting Process and the Clearinghouse

2nd – Budgeting and Financial Planning for parents
